Environment

Climate change is and will continue to affect our District and communities all across the globe. From the devastation of coastal communities, to extreme weather events, extreme heat, dangerous pollution and threats to our food system, we cannot ignore the impact of climate change and we cannot wait to act. I firmly support efforts to expand environmental protections, hold polluters accountable and create a more sustainable economy, both with legislation and through federal funding.

We know all too well that the cost of inaction harms some communities more than others. Damage to our environment disproportionately impacts low-income communities and communities of color. Our strategy to address the climate crisis must confront these inequities and ensure that everyone—regardless of race, income, zip code and more—enjoys the benefits of a clean environment. That means building resilience in the most vulnerable communities, acting to right historical wrongs and giving frontline communities a voice at the table where decisions are being made. For our New Jersey communities, I am committed to securing funding for flood mitigation, enhancing environmental justice efforts, ensuring the hardest hit communities are prepared and have the resources they need, and moving legislation forward to slow the impact of climate change and set us on a course for a clean energy future.
