Transportation and Infrastructure

Infrastructure investment is crucial to our nation’s economy and, for so many Americans, reliable transit systems are a lifeline. I am committed to building a safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation system that serves everyone equitably.

In New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District, we are a vital regional and international transportation hub. A key stretch of the Northeast Corridor—the busiest railway in the country—runs directly through our district, and Newark Liberty International Airport, one of the busiest in the region, serves over 46 million passengers each year. Our communities rely heavily on NJ Transit and the PATH rail system, which deliver millions of commuters to neighboring cities daily.

My transit advocacy as Newark City Council president led to securing $120 million from Essex County Improvement Authority to allow Newark to replace 23,000 lead service lines in under three years—a national example of how cities can tackle lead contamination quickly and effectively. I fought for $190 million for improvements and renovations of Newark Penn Station, one of the busiest transportation hubs in New Jersey, and played a vital role in upgrading our city’s water and wastewater infrastructure to transform our city for the better. But I’m not done—improving transportation and infrastructure in our district is essential to ensuring our citizens stay safe, connected and ahead. There is more work to do.
