Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, creating half of our national GDP, more than half of our jobs, and creating most new employment opportunities each year. In Congress, I am dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs by fighting monopolization, fostering innovation, expanding access to capital in vulnerable communities, and streamlining regulations to help businesses thrive.
Expanding access to capital for underserved communities is one way to uplift economically disadvantaged communities. By increasing support for minority-owned and women-owned businesses, we can promote diversity in entrepreneurship and ensure everyone has a fair shot at economic success.
In New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District, small businesses are central to the local economy, employing over 180,000 residents across nearly 17,300 businesses. My work in Washington will focus on strengthening the foundation of these businesses, driving economic stability and wealth creation for families in Newark, East Orange, and beyond.
