We are pleased to announce that this year's Congressional App Challenge (CAC), a competition designed to promote student engagement in computer science and coding, is set to open in May! Students are encouraged to register online and submit their app by October 26, 2026.
The Congressional App Challenge is open to all middle and high school students who live or attend school in New Jersey's 10th Congressional District. Students entering the competition must submit their app to CongressionalAppChallenge.us by the October 26 deadline. The winner from NJ-10 will be chosen by a panel of expert judges and is eligible to be on display in the U.S. Capitol during a ceremony honoring app designers from across the country.
Officially launched by the U.S. House of Representatives in 2015, this nationwide effort allows students to compete against their peers by creating an application (also known as an “app”) for desktop/PC, web, tablet, mobile, raspberry Pi or other devices. We accept any programming language, such as C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, or "block code".
The 2025 winner for NJ-10 was Kora, created by Shashank Madala, Ayur Munipalli, Joseph Pontoriero, and Liam Casey. Learn more about the app and its mission to assist caregivers of autistic children here.
