NEWARK, N.J. – Over the past two days, Congresswoman LaMonica McIver (NJ-10) and Congressman Rob Menendez (NJ-08) convened with Jersey City and Newark residents to discuss the work they are doing to stand up to the Trump administration’s escalating attacks on democracy. During these meetings, the congressmembers highlighted the harmful impact of Trump’s Big Ugly Bill and anti-immigration policies, and the urgent need for community-based solutions and lawmaker action to protect civil rights for all residents.

“People will literally die due to this administration’s hateful policies—this administration’s actions are centered around cruelty,” said Congresswoman LaMonica McIver (NJ-10). “We want our constituents to be engaged because the power is still with the people. We’re up against an administration that does not know what is going on with the American people. Congressman Menendez and I will always be a resource for our constituents, that is why they elected us and that is what we will continue to do.”

“Congresswoman McIver and I, along with our Democratic colleagues, are working every day to combat this administration’s harmful agenda and the impact it’s having on our communities,” saidCongressman Rob Menendez (NJ-08). “This Dialogue Series was not only an opportunity to share updates on the work we are doing every day to protect those we represent and build a better government that works for everyone, but also a chance to hear from those whose lives are impacted by this administration’s policies. We aren’t backing down, and we will continue to use every tool at our disposal to make a difference—together.”

McIver represents New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District, which is home to a proud, dynamic, and diverse community located in the heart of northeastern New Jersey. With over 750,000 residents, the 10th District includes portions of Essex, Union, and Hudson Counties—with 18 cities and towns in total.
