McIver Issues Statement on Baraka Lawsuit

NEWARK, NJ – Congresswoman LaMonica McIver (NJ-10) issued the following statement on Newark Mayor Ras Baraka filing suitagainst Alina Habba, interim U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, and Ricky Patel, DHS Special Agent in Charge. Baraka’s suit allegesfalse arrest and malicious prosecution: 

“The way Mayor Baraka was treated at Delaney Hall was outrageous. It is beyond clear that there was never any legal or factual basis to arrest or charge him. The administration's playing politics with our justice system is disgraceful.”
